Local riders are joining the annual ride organized by the CAPPY Club to raise awareness and funding for Ontario charities that pro- mote the protection of children and youth. The funds raised by local riders will benefit children and youth in Durham Region through services offered by the Durham Children's Aid Society, such as child abuse prevention educa- tion and scholarship funds. By Albert Putsey Caesarea News Again we sat in disgust when our plans went astray due to the weather. We had everything up at the hall ready for the fireworks except for the food. When we looked at the sky, it was doubtful, and then it started to come down. There was no point in trying to have races, etc, with the field wet, since it could end in an accident. There will be a meeting on Thursday, July 19 at 7:30 p.m. at 20 Putsey Drive for the purpose of deciding when to hold our Canada Day celebration. Some have suggest- ed Labour Day weekend, which sounds good. This way we'll not interfere with the Regatta and have the two days, Saturday and an alter- native - Sunday in case of rain. Lake Scugog Historical Society We had good weather and a very pleasant Sunday afternoon at the Island Museum on July 8. As | toured from building to building | was great- ly surprised to see the number of antique tools for the various tradas in the different shops. I'm sorry that | didn't have my hearing aid with me so | missed the lecture in the church, but made up for it in conversation with others who were busy on other duties. All in all, it was indeed a day to remember. The next executive meeting is Thursday, July 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the museum. Scouts J With the aid of local organizations, as well as their own endeavours, we bid good luck to our scouts and their leaders who left last Thursday for the Canadian Jamboree in Prince Edward Island. Blackstock and District Lions Club Many thanks to all who dropped by our booths for a Lion burger or a Lion dog Friday and Saturday nights at the annual Tractor Pull. It was an opportunity to chat with old friends and make new ones. The inventive- ness of the Lions with their tarps and tent made it possible to continue in the rain on Saturday. It was an oppor- tunity for us to try out our new tent, too. If you're interested in renting this tent for an upcoming simply touch base with any Lion.
