While final financial numbers on the event aren't yet available, Mrs. Cerovich says if the number of people in the streets are any indication, then the new-look festival did just fine. "We don't know if it was a financial success yet, but it was definitely a peo- . ple success," she said. "The crowds were good and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and having a good time. "Every indication I got was that peo- ple were smiling and seemed to have very pleased looks. Overall, I think it was a tremendous success." Mrs. Cerovich acknowledged that there were some questions about the midway - which was omitted from this year's edition - but that there were nothing but positive remarks pertaining to the event, especially regarding the inflatable kids' games. "If there were any major complaints, believe me, | would have heard about them." She also pointed out that merchants were just as happy as the visitors strolling through downtown Port Perry. "All the business people seemed pretty happy; they were quite pleased with the decision to not bring in any outside merchants. People seemed quite pleased and the merchants were happy that we kept it local," said Mrs. Cerovich. She pointed out that all the mer- chants selling their wares on the week- end were from Scugog Township. The only exceptions were the providers of the kids' games, said Mrs. Cerovich. Sailing courses, sponsored by the Optimist clubs of Brooklin and Whitby, still have openings. Courses run one week for seven to nine year-olds in the Mosquito pro- gram, and two weeks for sailors aged seven to 17 years in the Youth White Still room in Optimist sailing classes Sail program. Qualifying students will be invited to become members of the Optimist Club of Brooklin Youth Sailing Club or the Optimist Club of Whitby Youth Sailing Club.
