Born in Victoria, B.C., Bertha was a pioneer to Chamberlain Twp. since 1907. She graduated as a registered nurse at North Bay Civic Hospital in 1930. Retuming to Engle- hart, she married dairy farmer Philip Blackburn and together they raised 8 children. With deep regret she was retired from her cherished nursing profes- sion at the age of 70. Bertha was predeceased by her parents William Dickinson (1912) and Charlotte Dickinson/Hamilton (1979), brothers Lloyd (1974) and Charles (Chap)(1970), husband Philip (1982) and grand- son Jeffrey Blackburn (1998). Her family of 8 who cherish her memory are Betty (Earl Craig) North Bay, Ardon (Marie- Clare) North Bay, Ruth (Ray Bate) Belleville, Ger- ald (Marion) Port Perry, Robert (Cheryl) Chamber- lain Twp.
