| I en 2 oS PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, September 18, 2001 - 19 Poor weather cancelled July celebrations 7 Come out and celebrate Canada Day in Caesarea this weekend CAESAREA Albert Putsey Caesarea Ratepayers Association This is the weekend at last for our Canada Day celebrations - remember, we were rained out twice before. There will be fun for all ages and a snack bar will be set up in Putsey Park. Look for races of all kinds, a tug-of-war, volley- ball for teens - it should be an eventful afternoon. There is a dinner at Caesarea Hall at 6 p.m. fol- lowing these events. For tickets call 905-986-0181 or 905-986-1200. The price is $12 per person and $6 for children under 13. Your dinner ticket will allow you into the fire hall court to watch the fireworks follow- ing. Admission for others is the usual $5 per family or $2 per person. Going by my watch and the evening darkness, I'd say the fire- works should start between 7:30 and 8 p.m. Port Perry Volleyball Club Fall Reglotration Got a course coming up? Joke of the Week When my husband brought our nine-year-old daughter to a new dentist, he was asked to fill our a dental history form. Under "Patient's Chief Oral Complaint" my husband had written, "I don't wanna do my homework." Church Update By Val Chapman We really enjoyed a wonderful weekend. The weather was great and our open house event was very enjoyable. Several of our community came in to show their interest and support and enjoyed look- ing at the memorabilia dis- play, which featured many of their ancestors and fam- ily members. We were given a donation box, which was supposed to be a model of our church, but the donor had run out of time and presented it to us with the remark:" Well, it isn't finished yet, but nei- ther is the church." We all enjoyed the humour of that immensely. Our other good news is that our project coordina- tor, Jim, has arrived safely back from the States, after what was supposed to be a two-three day visit in Florida. He should have come back on Tuesday, Sept. Il. We thank God now for his safe return. Work again re-commences. The tickets are still on sale for our fundraising dinner this Saturday, Sept. 22. Hope to see you there.
