"Scugog"s Community Newspaper of Choice" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, September 25, 2001 - 15 Call 905-986-LOVE if you know his whereabouts Exotic peacock now on the loose in Caesarea area Caesarea News By Albert Putsey Well, guess what? It did it again, that rain. We were all set up for a field day last Saturday, the first day of autumn, when down it came, this time as a drizzle. The dinner that followed was just great, a tribute to the church group and asso- ciates who brought every- thing hot to the hall - remember there's no large stove or dishwasher here. Thank you all for a great memorial dinner. The third chapter of the day was the fireworks. Attendance was down, due to the chilly evening and the rain. We would like to thank the firefighters asso- ciation for lighting our fire- works. We are all very sorry to hear of firefighter Joe Gorif's accident when one firecracker blew out the side instead of the end and hit him. At this point we can only say it was a great day There will be a meeting this Thursday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. at Caesarea Hall. If you want a Regatta next year, terms of come out to this meeting. They need your help. Please attend. Blackstock Lions Our first Zone Meeting of the new year is this Wednesday in Stouffville. This week we send con- gratulations to Lion Archie Walker on his birthday, Sept. 27 and to Lion Ray and Sharon Wright on their anniversary. At our next meeting, Wednesday, Oct. 3, Iris Milne is the guest speaker from C.N.I.B. In fact, our cooks had many compliments and we didn't hear a single complaint. The dinner was followed by the fireworks, thanks to Albert and the help of the firefighters, some of whom attended the dinner also. At this time in history we have become acutely aware of how much we owe these men who risk their lives regularly whenever they answer a call to duty. We PORT PERRY STAR extend to them our grateful thanks and appreciation for what they do. May God bless them and keep them safe.
