According to police reports, officers were called to an Ashburn Rd. residence shortly after 11 p.m. on Oct. 24 by a female complaining she had been assaulted. Reports went on to say that an alleged argument developed between a 31- year-old female and a 43- year-old male over a tele- vision show the two were watching. It is alleged that both parties suffered injuries in the ensuing argument. Upon investigating, Durham Regional Police placed both parties under arrest. They hoth face charges of assault and were trans- ported for a bail hearing in Oshawa late last week. Both will face the alle- gations in an Oshawa court early in November. Township prepared to cash in on Canterbury - By J. Peter Hvidsten Port Perry Star Scugog council is prepared to draw on the letter of credit they hold for Canterbury Common if the developer does not resolve its problems with the homeowners there. The Canterbury Common Residents' Association (CCRA) informed the township by letter that they are unhappy with the way the developing company, Canterbury Common Inc., is deal- ing with some dr ficient parkland areas in the development. In a letter to Mayor Doug Moffatt dated Oct. 12, the group says they have made limited progress with the company and solicit the sup- port of the township in negotia- tions with Canterbury Commons Inc. But council indicated it was not about to get into the middle of the dispute. "The agreement makes them (CCI) responsible as long as they own the land," said Mayor Doug Moffatt. Ward 2 Councillor Marilyn Pearce pointed out that the town- ship did not create or ask for any parkland or parkettes and never agreed they would take over these areas. "The use of those lands is for the use of the property owners, not the public," she said. Mayor Moffatt felt that this issue was going to become a real prob- lem and suggested that the letter of credit should be kept until it was resolved. pe Corporation to take over TV rentals From Page 1 Lakeridge Health Port Perry's Chief Operating Officer, Joseline Sikorski, was unavailable for com- ment.
