Santa Sack The Santa Sack was such a huge success last year, that we are running this promo- tion again. The prize was valued at over $2,500. We are aiming for $3,000 this year. Check your local retailers for more on this great prize extravaganza. Turkey Draw The turkey draw will be held on Sunday, Dec. 9 in conjunction with an afternoon of events. The winners wins two turkeys: one for the winner to take home while the other will be donated to a needy family on their behalf. No purchase is necessary to enter. Lighting Ceremony Friday, Nov. 30 6 to 9 p.m. The BIA started last Christmas to adorn the downtown buildings with white lights. More lights have been »urchased and will be installed by the end of the month to create a special Christmas effect in the downtown area. The BIA will close Queen Street from Water St. to Perry St. (no intersections will be closed) for the evening of Friday, Nov. 30. A stage will be set up in front of the post office. The lights on th® building will be on at dusk as usual. For the ceremony, they will light candles, donated by The Settlement House and sing Christmas car- ols. There will be dancers and entertain- ment, a food/toy drive and of course 'Santa will be present. This will be a communi- ty/family event that will end at 9 p.m. so be sure to take advantage of this. Carollers The ever-popular Christmas Carollers will be singing through the streets and stores.in period costume every weekend throughout December. Santa Santa is ready to go. He arrived in town on Saturday, Nov, 24 - Parade Day. As many of you know, our Santa mingles with the kids and parents on the street and in the stores handing out candy canes, throughout December, week- days and weekends. Horse and Buggy A horse and buggy will be giving rides through the downtown on Friday evenings and Sundays throughout December. The pick-up and drop-off point will be in front of the post office. Sunday, Dec. 9 An Afternoon of Events 1 to 3 p.m. There will be lots happening to encour- age people to spend the afternoon down- town, enjoying the activities and shopping. Christmas Tree Decorating Groups, individuals and businesses may sponsor a tree which will set up on the street. Each group will decorate the tree with their own theme and decorations dur- ing this afternoon event. The trees will then be on display until the end of the afternoon and then donated to charity.
