"Scugog"s Community Newspaper of Choice" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, November 27, 2001 - 21 Scugog Hockey League action Pineridge shocks Monsma Electric Pineridge Sports Monsma Electric In the first game of the morning, Pineridge Sports simply inhaled the Monsma Electric crew by a score of 7-1. There was not much defense in either end of the game with Pineridge capitalizing on their chances and Monsma being stopped by fill-in goalie Bart Wager. Goalscorers for Pineridge were Shane Norton with four goals and two assists, Darcy Milligan with two goals and Dave Burnett with a goal and two assists. Adding assists were Wayne Norton, Kevin Hobbs and Billy Page with one each. Scoring Monsma"s only goal was Brad Hurst from Jack Monsma and Rick Campbell. Precision Construction Bruce Smith Carpentry - In game two, more of a tight match was played as Precision Construction outscored Bruce Smith Carpentry by a score of 2-1. Precision held a two goal lead early into the third period when Bruce Smith's squad came within a goal, but good defense paid off as Precision went on to hold off their opponent and win the game. Goalscorers for Precision were Mike McQuaid with a goal and an assist and Wayne Fox with a goal. Steve Laird, Terry Bache and Danny Taylor all drew assists. Scoring for Bruce Smith was Todd Smart assisted by Willie Edwards. B. Callery and Associates Scugog Movers In the first senior game of the day, B. Callery and Associates doubled up on Scugog Movers by a score of 4-2. Scoring for the B. Callery Squad was Brian Callery with a goal and two assists, Tim Curry with a goal and an assist, Clarence Stephenson with a goal and an assist and Rick Penstone with other lone markers. McClelland Port Perry Star The Port Perry MoJacks managed to stay ahead of the Lakefield Chiefs for second place in the Central Junior C standings, but failed to make any ground on first-place Uxbridge. After a long bus trip to Campbellford Friday evening where they played very well in a 5-3 victory, the MoJacks were back on the ice the next evening at the Scugog Arena and were doubled 6-3 by the Uxbridge Bruins -- just their second loss in 10 games, both to those same Bruins. Early first period markers by Adam Jones and Justin Bennett staked the MoJacks to a 2-0 lead. But the Bruins are not a first-place team by accident. They refused to panic and managed to dribble a puck behind Matt Balser in the dying seconds of the period to cut the margin in half.
