Four Port Perry High School students and three of their teachers are putting together the second annual Port Perry Film Festival. Last year, thanks to the efforts of Greg Langford, the film festival raised over $500 for the Durham Regional Cancer Centre. This year, Mark Drager, the new principle organizer of the Port Perry Film Festival, hopes to surpass last year's amount. "It is a worthwhile event and an all-ages show," said Mark. This year the film festival will be held at the Scugog Community Centre. The festival consists of films that people have sub- mitted and is open to all ages and all films will be screened in. advance. Last year the community event drew more than 30 volunteers and had a turnout of almast 200 people. Tickets are available at the door for $5, with limited seating. The submission date for films is Jan. 10 and the PPHS to host second annual film fest Amy Aldred, Mark Drager and Scott Steves are organizing the 2002 PPHS Film Fest. It is reported to have been one of the largest in years, stretching from downtown Port Perry all the way back to the fair- grounds at one point. Mayor Doug Moffatt was quick to praise the organizers, saying "it was an excellent parade." Favourable weather brought out large crowds to the streets along the route for the Nov. 24 event. Ward 3 Councillor Jim McMillan suggested that a letter of congratula- tions should be sent to the Scugog Chamber of Commerce, and in partic- ular parade chairman Ray Northey, who orga- nized the successful event.
