This one will be especially for two-year-olds, aptly entitled "Tales for Two." It will run from Friday, April 7 to Friday, May 19, save for Good Friday, April 21. From 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. each week, your little one and yourself will be intro- duced to songs, stories and fingerplays. Younger siblings are welcome, but cannot be accommodated unless they are safely restrained in a car seat. Registration can be made on Friday, March 31 between library hours of 9 a.m. to5 p.m. Humanist to Address Locals Dr. Robert Buckman, president of the Humanist Society of Toronto, will be speaking at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Durham Region this Sunday, April 2 at Brooklin Community Centre, 45 Cassels Rd. East starting at 10:30 a.m. Dr. Buckman is a medical oncologist at - Toronto-Sunnybrook Regional Cancer Centre, an associate professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto and a brilliant communicator. He is the author of 10 best selling books, including "Not Dead Yet." Dr. Buckman is committed to putting a human face on ill- ness and all aspects of medical care, and will speak Sunday on the topic of "Humanism." All are welcome to attend. The legion is holding its spring dance at the legion hall Saturday from 8 p.m. to | a.m. Music will be provided by the same great DJ they had on New Year's Eve. Canvassers Needed Canvassers are urgently needed local- ly to help the Cancer Society's annual campaign. With the rapid growth of our village, there just aren't enough bodies to go around. Volunteers are especially needed in the three new subdivisions. We're not asking for a monumental commitment here. If you can only do your street, or part of a street your assistance will be greatly appreciated. You can choose your own time as you have the entire month of April to accom- plish your goal. You will be provided with a kit from the Cancer Society that covers everything required. Responsible, mature teens will be more than welcome. Impact Steadily Climbing The Impact Wrestling Club continues its success at invitational meets leading up to the Provincial Championships next. month. The club was able to capture two team divisions (novice and kid) at the Hagersville - Wrestling Invitational on Saturday, March 25. Local Brooklin lads who did an excep- tional job are as follows: Novice - Brock -Hicks took the silver medal while Sean Glover took the bronze. Kid - Nathan Staneland won gold and Justin Howe earned a silver. Bantam - Kevin Madsen wrestled his way to a gold medal. Congratulations to you all. Pancake Time Yum Yum If you have yet to avail yourself of the Mason's pancake breakfast, get your appetite ready for this Sunday, April 2. If you miss that one you'll have to wait until next fall, because the gentlemen take a break in the cooking fest until then. So show up at the Masonic Hall between 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and indulge in all the pancakes and sausage you can eat cooked up by the members of Mt. Zion Masons. See you there. : Hockey News Lots of hockey riews this week, but not enough space to do it all justice. So to | avoid leaving anyone out, I'll make it top of the list in next week's column. Deal? Hmmm | Have to put my two cents worth in | about Mr. Lindros. He's sitting out yet another concussion (that's not his fault) | and taking his down time to criticize his | hockey club, coaching staff, trainers and | fellow teammates (that is his fault). Now he's upset that the Flyers have stripped him of his captaincy. Flyers allege Lindros (and his family) have been detrimental verbally to the club, hence the reason they tore the "C" from his sweater. You know I've followed this man's career-since he was in my daughter's class at Anderson Collegiate. I've spoken to him and his mom in a pro- fessional capacity and to tell you the truth, I'd have never given him the "C" in the first place. To my way of thinking to captain any team is a great honour and should not be given just because the person happens to be the best player on the team. There is more to leading a group than playing better than the next guy (or gal). The key word here being leading.
