-- a THURSDAY, APRIL 20, 2000 - n PAHS High hopes for 2000 Brooklin Redmen getting set for another Major Series lacrosse season The Brooklin Redmen of the Ontario Lacrosse Association, Major Series are pleased to announce the opening of training camp for the 2000 summer cam- paign, and their regular season schedule as well. The Redmen organization encourage all lacrosse fans to come to Iroquois Park Arena in Whitby to watch some fast paced and exciting action in what promises to be a very competitive summer campaign in the Major Series. The following N.L.L. players will sport Redmen colours this summer: Rob Blasdell, Glenn Clark, Dan Ladouceur, Shawn Williams, Gary Rosyski, Cam Woods, Steve Toll, Darryl Gibson, and Scott MacDonnell. The Redmen are eager to repeat as regular season champions and plan to improve their 1999 playoff performance with the hopes of hosting a Mann Cup Series at Iroquois Park in Whitby in September. The training camp schedule runs from May 1 until May 15 and will be held at Iroquois Park in Whitby. The schedule is as follows: Monday, May | - 7:45 to 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 3 - 7:45 to 9:15 p.m. Thursday, May 4 - 7:45 to 9:15 p.m. Monday, May 8 - 9:30 to 11 p.m. Wednesday, May 10-9:30to 11 p.m. Thursday, May 11 - 7:45 to 9:15 p.m. Monday, May 15 - 7:45 to 9:15 p.m. The highlight of the training camp schedule will be two exhibition games against the rival Peterborough Lakers. Game one is set for Sunday, May 7 at 7 p.m. in Lindsay while game two is set for Saturday, May 13 at 7 p.m. at Brooklin Arena. . Allhome games are played at Iroquois Park Arena in Whitby (except the exhibi- tion game, which will be held at Luther Vipond Arena in Brooklin). Saturday, May 13 - 7 p.m. vs Peterborough (exhibition game). Wednesday, May 17 - 8:30 p.m. vs Oshweken (home opener). Wednesday, May 24 - 8:30 p.m. vs St. Catharines. DIRT DEVILS: Cold winds and snowy conditions kept large numbers away from the April 9 Blackstock Motocross Competition, but a decent crowd of - die-hard race fans still braved the elements to take in the sights and sounds of some great competitive motocross action at the Martyn's Haulage pits. Geir Sp Ray Skateboard Park group inching closer to its goal 'Board park car wash this weekend The KX96 local radio station sponsored anoth- er Skateboard Park Fundraiser held on March 15 at the Port Perry Arena. It was another success bringing in $310 closer to the goal. Ice rink time was donated by Taylor Ford of Port Perry. Great door prizes were given away and were donated by local businesses: C.A.W. Local 222 of Oshawa, Centennial .Lanes, Tanning Zone, Micris One of Markham, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Toronto Blue Jays. The Port Perry Mojacks held an autograph session just prior to and during the game. For all the vol- unteers, sponsors, and spectators that attended or participated, this event was fun and a success. A model of the skateboard park was also on display. In the near future an upcoming car wash fundraiser will be held on April 22 at Reid's Independent Grocer on the west side of the build- ing. For $5 volunteers are looking forward to wash- ing your car. Hamburgers, hot dogs, and pop sup- plied by Reid's Independent Grocer will also be sold later in the morning and early after- noon at this évent. Please feel free to drop by for a car wash. Consolation champions The Sunderland Tyke 2 squad recently played Bobcaygeon, defeating them 4-3 after scoring the winning goal with only a single second left in regulation time to take the Consolation Championship. The Sunderland goals were scored by Cory Brethour and Lucas Hand.
