As a result of numerous requests for information detailing significant histor- ical sites throughout the region, our economic development and tourism department has answered the call by creating a Heritage Handbook. The Heritage Handbook lists the sites of historical significance as well as the areas of inter- est to genealogy research, which makes it easy for residents and tourists to plan trips to various venues in our region of interest to both casual his- torians and serious scien- tists, This book is broken into categories such as sites of aboriginal history, architectural interest, automobile history, famous people and agri- culture. There is a full colour map that shows all of the sites on it, as well as a list- ing of events relating to each site. Copies can be obtained at information and tourism centres throughout Durham, and can be ordered through the regions' website at www.region.durham.on.ca, or by calling (905) 723- 0023. presents ~ THE KAWARTHA BIG BAND Concert in the Park > 3 | pel omy thestival JULY 28, 7-9 pm.
