Most of the painter's booths are in the agriculture building, "with fine crafts housed in the marquee. Some artists prefer to set up their colour- ful displays and canopies outside. Weather permitting the students show will be outside. Every year a silent auc- tion is held of original art and limited edition prints donated by the artists to help fund the festival. The evening will include a family style din- ner with a live drama pro- duction about the unique work of Wycliffe Bible Translators. The story is a historic look at the manifestation of "the Word," whether it be spoken by God, per- sonified in the figure of Jesus, or written in the form of Holy Scripture. Framed by a contempo- rary love story of two Wycliffe Bible Translators, the script dives back into the past to examine the high cost many Christians have paid to ensure their fellow man's right to have "the Word." Wycliffe Associates of Canada, the home volun- teer organization support- ing Wycliffe Bible Translator, sponsors these dinner theatre events through its own Spread the Word Ministries. There is no admission charge, but reservations are needed to ensure the proper amount of food has been prepared. 'A free-will offering will be taken. There will also be the opportunity to participate in a faith promise project to financially support national Bible translators and literacy workers around the world, as well as home team members. An Ancient Splendor will be presented at Northview Community Centre in Oshawa at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 12 and 13.
