Go man go! Straight to the Uxbridge Fall Fair on Sunday, Sept. 10. Between noon and 5 p.m., bring your "injured teddy bear" to the fair for minor first aid and a check-up by the hospital staff of Uxbearies on Main St. If your bear is found to need major surgery, the "medical" staff will discuss with you what needs to be done and help you make the necessary arrangements. Just one of many fun things to do at the 136th edition of the Uxbridge Fall Fair. All systems are "go" for the fair and those wishing to enter exhibits are urged to act fast. Scheduled to be held from Friday, Sept. 8 through Sunday, Sept. 10 at Elgin Park on Main St. in Uxbridge, the fair fea- tures many new exhibits and events as well as the traditional ones you know and love. The gates, midway and build- ings open at 5 p.m. on Friday and the tractor pull is featured starting at 7 p.m. Next day, Saturday, the gates open at 10 a.m. The sheep and junior dairy calf shows plus a bran yard rodeo are high- lights in the afternoon while the ever popular demolition derby gets underway at 7 p.m. sharp. On Sunday, the horses - Morgans and saddle breds plus the heavy horses - show their stuff starting bright and early at 9:30 a.m. More Morgans and American saddle horses show at | p.m. while the always exciting horse pull starts at 2:30 p.m. Between events, you can check out the cruise-in car show starting at 10 a.m. All weekend, the buildings will be jammed full of entries with many new and revised classes. They are also the place to see the quilts, flowers, crafts, baking, woodworking, photography and all kinds of children's work. The midway, open from 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, is sure to be pop- ular with the young crowd. Everybody is invited to the Uxbridge Fall Fair. Paving from Manchester to Port Perry to be completed by late October 7A resurfacing contract awarded to Miller Paving The award of a $1.6 million project to resurface 5.0 kilo- meters of Highway 7A has been announced by Transportation Minister David Turnbull. The contract was awarded to Miller Paving Limited of Markham. The project is for the resurfacing of Highway 7A with from the junction of Highway 7/12 easterly to east of Water St. in Port Perry. Work will also include widening of the road- way to provide a left-turn lane at Perry Street. Work started in late August, completion in late October. This investment is part of the government's five-year, $20 billion SuperBuild initia- and tive. The program is designed to build for the future by improving capital planning, priority setting and invest- ment. The government's goal investment process more strategic, more responsive more accountable.
