Mrs. Neale, who has held the cura- tor's position at the Scugog Island museum for a little more than two years now, announced her resigna- tion on Tuesday (Oct. 17) evening. She has accepted another posi- tion at a community museum in Peterborough, where she lives and teaches class at Sir Sandford Fleming College. "It was quite a surprise," said Jay Todd, chair of the museum board, on Wednesday morning. He is also Scugog's Parks and Recreation direc- tor. She's a terrific person who had great connections which helped us all out. "I can't say enough about her." Mr. Todd has yet to speak with Mrs. Neale, but expects her to at least stay on until near the end of October, after the Halloween fundraiser is held. "Knowing Susan, she'll stick around and get some loose ends tied up and | know she'll be here for the Haunted Village." While replacing her will be a tough job, Mr. Todd says the museum board will get on with the task in the near future. He's planning on calling a board meeting next week, where decisions will have to make on the hiring OMESTEAD FURNITURE & APPLIANCES museum's - process. "We'll probably establish a recruit- ing committee and go from there. We're kind of lucky, | guess, because our season is gearing down and we don't have a lot happening (at the museum). We have a little breathing room, but she'll be greatly missed." Museum vice-chair Catherine Corden also passes along best wishes to Mrs. Neale in her future endeav- ours. "We feel badly that we've lost her, but it'll be a good move for her, it's progress," said Ms Corden. "She's moved the museum along in many good ways, and she needs to be praised for that. "She's put great thought into this and it'll be a new challenge for her, but I'm sure she'll handle it well. She's very capable."
