He has represented the riding since 1993. But in order to return to Parliament Hill, Mr. Shepherd and his Liberal colleagues will have to hold off a charge by the surging Canadian Alliance Party. Locally, the Alliance will be represented by Gerry Skipwith of Utica. Meanwhile, the Progressive Conservatives are to meet on the weekend to nominate a candidate. Sam Cureatz, a lawyer from Newcastle who carried the party flag in the last election here, is expected to accept the nomination Saturday. Durk Bruinsma will once again represent the Christian Heritage Party. This will be the third campaign for the 60-year-old Bowmanville farmer. The Green Party also had selected a can- didate, but Lloyd Rang later stepped down. Cureatz Bruinsma The party is in the process of searching for another representative. And as of Wednesday, no candidate has been selected to represent the New Democratic Party in Durham.
