Port Perry, GN HELLER ELEVA RTL URHOGHTHUHR IH HIM B HIT weigh in at S54 Wy, report says | By Chris Hall Weekend Star Debenture financing will be necessary for the municipality to make major infrastruc- ture improvements, says Ward 2 rep Marilyn Pearce. - Scugog Township's budget chief: made "that statement Monday afternoon following a presentation during a .WoRks committee meeting. Dave Behm, an engineer with Totten 'Sims Hubicki Associates, gave a follow-up presentation of a roads needs study com- missioned by the township .and compiled by his company in 1999. The study shows that about 51 per cent of : the township's roads are adequate, but that it would cost about $54.5 million to bring the remainder up:to par. The report also listed roads and structures in the township need- ing immediate attention. While the River St. bridge in Seagrave was listed as the top priority in the report, councillors meeting Monday agreed that bridges on Edgerton Rd. and Jobb Rd., both in the Blackstock area, should be moved to the top of the list. The Edgerton Rd. bridge has a low weight limit and is prone to flooding, while the Jobb Rd. structure has sustained major dam- age to its supporting concrete. , While he noted that the Jobb Rd. bridge was not going to fall apart anytime soon, Mr. Behm said it is the structure most likely to fail first. The Cedardale Bridge near View Lake was also discussed at the meeting. That structure is made of steel beams and wood- 'en planking; it too is prone to flooding, and has a low weight limit.
