FRIDAY, MARCH 30, 2001 - 21 Choosing right multi-vitamin How do you know what to look for in a multi-vitamin? The gro- cery stores and health food aisles are stocked with a multitude of options, but it can be difficult to determine just what would be best for you. The first thing to con- sider when buying a multi-vitamin is your age, lifestyle and stress : Before taking any type of supplemen-tation, it is very important to assess what factors are affecting your nutritional status. Do you work long and stressful hours or do you have a tendency to not always eat right? These are reflections of your multi-vitamin needs. Age is another factor which plays a part in multi-vita- min choice. Adults over age 50 for example, have dif- ferent nutritional needs than other age categories. This 50+ age group requires more Vitamin E, B12, Folic Acid and Selenium to maintain good heart health. Choosing a good multi-vitamin also means you should be concemed with quality. Consumers should be aware of a brand's potency and purity. Which leaves many people asking, 'how do you really know?' Go with a trusted brand, read the label for a seal of approval or quality assurance, and visit the website to find out more. Whatever you do, don't just buy based on price -- it is not always a reflection of quality. Host families sought for Japan exchange Organizers of the annual Labo exchange are looking for host families to wel- come Japanese students this summer from July 23 to Aug. 18. The students range in age from 10 to 16 years, and they are excited to learn about our culture and customs. The Labo students want to experience daily life, so no special trips or enter- tainment are needed. They look forward to being in our rural country- side doing family chores, going to 4-H meetings, learning new games, shop- ping, trying new foods and sharing their own Japanese culture with their host fam- ily. The cost of housing a Japanese student is mini- mal. Labo provides com- plete medical insurance and students bring their own spending money for souvenirs and personal purchases. Host families are asked to provide a room and meals for their Labo mem- ber and other small daily living expenses as they would provide for their own children. Families are required to have a child who is the same sex and close to the same age to the Japanese student. Over the past few years Ontario has hosted over 150 Labo students and we have had some of our chil- dren travelling over to Japan. If interested in becom- ing a host family or would like more information please call Dorothy Shier at (705) 437-1358. e 3M Scotchguard = : Df e Broadloom 212 e Upholste ¢ | oose Rugs \ 985-8552 852-6711 | el General Bearing Service Inc.
