Proliferation of taxis to be examined in report The number and colour of taxi cabs in Scugog may be discussed at the council table in the near future. On Monday Ward 5 Councillor Paul Michel brought up the matter of the number of cab companies now in opera- tion in Scugog, asking if their numbers - should be limited. Council recently allowed another taxi license, bringing. the number of compa- nies operating in the township to four. "I just wonder if a cap would not be in the best interest," said Councillor Michel. "I mean, if we allow more and there isn't enough business for them and then we wind up without adequate cab ser- vice, well..." Mayor Moffatt told the councillor, "it's certainly something that we could look . at." Towards the end of Monday's council meeting, Ward 2 Councillor Marilyn Pearce made note of an item under unfin- ished business regarding a review of the cur- rent taxi bylaw that includes possible limita- tions on colours for cabs operat- ing in Scugog. Councillor Pearce suggested that both the number and colour of cabs could be discussed when the report on the bylaw comes for- ward. Michel Fewer councillors for Scugog?
