'Whitby trustee (and former board chair) | Doug Ross told The Star after Monday night's standing committee meeting he will ask for an appointment with Education Minister and | Durham area MPP Janet Ecker. "We are talking about procedure wrangling © around a meeting that happened that should :- not have happened," he said. a a 3 Mr. Ross said the May. 14 meeting at J without board staff 4 or-public * notification has been at the root of on-going 4 problems between trustees. "The public has asked about this and it needs to be aired as it seems that none of the trustees at that meeting feel anything wrong was done," Mr. Ross said. Four of the trustees present at the meeting - have gone on record as saying they did noth- ing incorrectly. Sources close to the board say that before last Monday night's standing committee meeting some trustees tried to bring forth a motion that would have overturned letters of censure given to them by board chair Liz Roy as a result of the secret meeting. Mrs. Roy declined to comment on whether letters of censure had been sent to trustees Martin Demmers (Scugog), Paul Crawford (Pickering), Susan Shetler (Oshawa), Cynthia Stefan (Oshawa), Marilyn Crawford (Ajax) or Melinda Crawford (Ajax). Cynthia Stefan told The Star that "if such a letter were received, or has been received, | would certainly appeal that letter, yes." Ms Stefan also said she would welcome an "inquiry by the education ministry.
