WB Ril Ad 2 a "WEEKEND STAR" FRIDAY, JUNE 8, 2001 - 23 A -- ~ Auction to raise funds for Greenbank parks is June 15 A fundraising auction will be held June I5 at Greenbank Town Hall beginning at 6:30 p.m. Items will include: passes to the CN Tower, Ralph Taylor Fuels gift certificate, one day membership to ROM, Joey Hamilton autographed photo, Stage West Dinner Theatre tickets, Oakridge Golf & Country Club passes, golf shirts, golf balls, golf towels, Volkswagen stuffed bug, Black & Decker drill, Tim Hortons gift pack, McDonalds birthday party pack for 15, first aid kit, Canadian flag, Swimkids Pool Rental, outdoor vests, computer bag, Classic Model Car, Emerson Shop Vac, Kids Car game, Blue Jays tickets, portable radio and more donations. A food bar will also be available selling hot dogs, pop and snacks. All proceeds will be going towards new playground equipment in the Greenbank parks. Port Perry Fair will be held Sept. 2-3 Fair returns to a two-day event This year the Port Perry Fair will return to a two-day event. The official days of the 2001 fair will be Sunday, Sept. 2 and Monday, Sept. 3. Homecraft exhibits can be dropped off on Friday, Aug. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. as usual, as well as Saturday, Sept. 1 from 9 to 11 a.m. At this time the buildings will close for judging. The entertainment will begin Saturday evening (Sept. 1) with the truck and trac- tor pull at 7 p.m. Saturday night fun will also include the opening of the midway and beer tent as well as the pie auction. The craft buildings will not be open on the Saturday evening. The fair will officially open on Sunday, Sept. 2 at 10 a.m. The fun-filled day will consist of our most popular events as well & Power We keep good companies! site. a as many new ones. Some of these events - include the midway, family rodeo, horse racing, entertainment, cattle shows and the demolition derby. At 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 3, things get underway with such events as the midway, horse shows, baby show, fiddle contest, entertainment, horse pull, pen- ning competition and the popular family rodeo (yes, it will be held both days). For those of you planning to grow veg- etables to enter the fair, it's time to start planting. Also, for children, seeds have been distributed at the local schools.
