The event was held May 31 to June 2, and was used as a warm-up for the upcoming Central Ontario Regional Championships by the local firefighters. During the Arnprior event, Scugog's team fin- ished first out of 20 teams in the limited tool catego- ry, and second overall out of the 12 non-regional teams. They finished a scant few points behind first-place Mississauga. The local team will take their experiences from last weekend and use them to their advantage when they travel to Ajax later this month for the Central Ontario competi- tion. That event will be held from June 22-24. The Ajax competition is the regional qualifier for the internationals, which will be held in Burlington this September. It'll be held from Sept. 19-23. Members of the Scugog Fire Department's extrica- tion team include District Chief Dave Ballingall, Clint Walker, Dave Reed, Rob Leslie, Don Buldyke, and Mike Morden. From Page 1 "I would welcome it, yes," Ms Stefan said. "This is more of a misunder- standing or lack of commu- nication than anything." Uxbridge-Brock trustee and board vice-chair Nancy Loraine, who was not notified of the meeting in question, said that news of the request for an inquiry saddened her. "This is all because of the early adjournment of a meeting (prior to May14)," Mrs. Loraine said. "We are focusing here on the con- cerns of certain individu- als on the board and at the expense of the larger orga- nization." Mrs. Loraine said that while she does not wel- come an inquiry she feels the authority and leader- ship of the chair of the board is being questioned by the six trustees. "We must find a way to resolve the conflicts on this board," Mrs. Loraine said. "The interests of the board need to prevail here as opposed to the interests of individual trustees." Mr. Ross agreed with Mrs. Loraine's statements. "I believe that only an outside body can deal with this," Mr. Ross said. "I think that if the ministry finds wrong-doing here that it must be followed to its legislative conclusion. Doug Ross to seek action from Minister of Education We need to get on with board business and this matter just will not go away without a public air- ing." Mrs. Roy, who ran out of the in-camera portion of Monday night's meeting in frustration, said that resig- nation is not an option she is looking at. "Am | frustrated with this... yes," Mrs. Roy said. "To the point of resigna- tion... no way." "I arrived at this meet- ing tonight to find the Director (of Education) and senior staff standing in the hallway," Mrs. Roy said. "The recording secre- tary was also out of the room. This is not the way we conduct business at this board," Mrs. Roy said. "I need the support of the public and of trustees, to bring this public, and it needs to be public," Mrs. Roy said. Repeated calls to Mr. Demmers remained unan- swered at press time. Mr. Ross said he will make a formal request of the minister's office this week. The minister of educa- tion, when formally asked to investigate, must either appoint an independent investigator with the same powers as a public com- mission or reply to the complainant in writing list- ing the reasons for her fail- ure to proceed.
