2 - "WEEKEND STAR" FRIDAY, JUNE 29, 2001 Alcohol, speed factors in fatal crash, police say Durham Regional Police expect to lay charges in the wake of an accident Monday aftemoon north of Uxbridge that took the life of a 27-year-old Woodville man. Uxbridge firefighters, paramedics and Durham Regional Police officers were called to the comer of Regional Rd. | and the Sandford Rd. around 5 p.m. Monday after reports that a vehicle had left the road- way. According to police reports, a white 1985 Chev Blazer went out of control and rolled over in a ditch, ejecting all six occupants of the vehicle. One occupant, Jeff Deeks, 27, of Woodville, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Five other occupants were transported to area hospitals, then taken from there by air ambulance to Toronto hospitals. Wayne Windsor, 44, of Sunderland, was taken to St. Michael's Hospital in critical condition. Alan Windsor, 21, of Sunderland is listed in critical condition at Toronto Western Hospital and Brian Windsor, 22, also of Sunderland, is listed in critical but stable condition in Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Jason Brown, 23, of Oshawa, has been upgraded to good condition at Sunnybrook, and Rob Hamilton of Manilla, 23, is in criti- cal condition at Sunnybrook. Officers of the Traffic Management Unit are investigating the crash. Police sources say that alcohol and speed are possible fac- tors in the crash. Police cannot tell who was driving the vehicle, and say no one in the truck appears to have worn a seat belt. Anyone with information is asked to call 1-888-579-1520. ext. 5227.
