"WEEKEND STAR" - ------=~ FRIDAY, JULY'13, 2001 § Local band set to p Local band HotAir will play the biggest venue they've ever had next weekend, when they appear at SkyDome during the 119th Annual Police Games. HotAir is a l4-piece brass band that has been together in its present form for about two years. They are an eclectic group of part-time musicians consisting of a carpenter, a tool & die maker, a car salesman, a computer whiz, a cop and a boatload of teachers. HotAir is known for playing charity events in and around Uxbridge and the surrounding area. The band plays a vari- ety of music that spans 'many different styles that include bands from The Average White Band and Earth Wind & Fire to James Brown and Steely Dan. Over the past couple of years, the band has played for the Metro Police Amateur Athletics Banquet and the Canadian International Marathon, and recently opened for David Wilcox and Sas Jordan in Elgin Park. On Saturday, July 21 at 6:30 p.m., the doors open at SkyDome for the games. The event will showcase the Toronto Police Service, and feature police athletic events such as tug of war, track and field, superstars, bicycle races, and many other competitions.
