22 - "WEEKEND STAR" FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 2001 Candlelight Tour The Victorian splendor of Lindsay opens to you Have yourself a merry little Christmas. But until that day comes, why not get into the holiday spirit and expe- rience the historic town of Lindsay's enchanting Candlelight Christmas House Tour. It all happens on Saturday, Dec. 8 from | to 9 p.m. The 12th annual House Tour has become an increas- ingly popular Christmas tradition in this charming Victorian town, located in the heart of the new City of Kawartha Lakes. The event raises funds to maintain the Victoria County Historical Society's Museum. Plans are already underway to create a Heritage and Arts Centre in the county's jail once the new 'superjail' opens on Highway 36. Six unique homes are profiled in this year's tour, including a magnificent High Victorian home built in 1874 by John McLennan, sheriff of Victoria County (1875 - 1915), and an incredible reproduction of an 1840 farm house built in 1990. The latter is also the home to more than 200 Teddy Bears. Many of the homes also feature private collections of Canadian antiques, one of which features an exotic selec- tion of Imari china. In addition, two area businesses, Garry's Garden Gallery and Hill's Florist and Greenhouses, will open their doors to ticket holders to compliment the tour with their own gift and decorating ideas. Refreshments and Christmas goodies will be available anytime during the House Tour at the Old Mill Clubhouse, River Mill and Yacht Club, 110 Lindsay St. N. The Candlelight Christmas House Tour is presented by the Victoria County Historical Society. Tickets are $12 and are available in Lindsay at: Barkers Flowers, Sweet Annie's, Scott's Decorating, Village Winery, Kent Florist, The Victoria County Museum, and Strokes on Trent in Fenelon Falls. But hurry. Due to demand, ticket sales are limited. For more information or to reserve tickets, call the museum at 705-324-6756. SEASON'S EATINGS d Big Red Wieners a 4.4 |b. hot 36 pcs.
