Share the Warmth is a registered, non-profit charity that provides energy assistance to peo- ple in the community who are unable to pay their utility bills during winter. The program col- lects donations and uses them to pay the utility companies for approved applicants. Durham Region has | donated $25,000 to the Share the Warmth pro- gram this year and all of the donations raised in |. - Durham Region will serve the local community. This is the second con- secutive = year that Durham Region has sup- ported this vital program. Durham Regional Chair Roger Anderson will launch this year's program along with Cathy Clarke, Jane Thompson and Steve Parish. Host squad hands them a 5-2 loss in final Optimist Midgets fall just short of title at East Gwillimbury tourney The Uxbridge Optimist Midgets have had a busy week ending up finalist in an East Gwillimbury Tournament against the host team of 5-2. Uxbridge's two goals came from Mike Hamilton and Brian Obie with assists from Matt Morrison and Peter Wesholowski. The boys won two games and took a tie for their first three games to get to the champi- Stouffville, 3-3 tie vs Milton and 6-1 vs West Hill. Both goalies Jonathan Bruce and Kyle Martin put in strong performances for the tournament. During the week of Nov. 12, the boys had two road games with their first game taking them to Oshawa and had an outstanding win 11-3. The Optimists Midgets then trav- eled to Ajax and came home with a 3- put Uxbridge's first goal of the game on the board with passes from Kyle Strolenberg and Chris Harrison. Harrison popped the next two goals on a pass from Trevor Timbers on the second with his third being a short- handed goal.
