Peter Hvidsten Weekend Star There were smiles on the faces of members of the Scugog Shores Millennium Project com- mittee recently when they presented a slide show to members of council. Barbara Karthein said the committee was very happy with the way the project is pro- gressing and provided council a glimpse at the work that had been accomplished to date. " The complex shoreline project, which includes restoration of the shoreline and a trail along the lakefront, has run into its share of problems this fall with the extremely wet YOUNG DRIVERS OF CANADA weather, but is shaping up nicely, council heard. Jamie Ross, another committee member, said that about 30 per cent of the planting has been completed, but due to the large amount of rain over the past two months the remain- der will have to be left until the spring. To date 175 shrubs and 30 trees have been planted -along the lakefront. Ms. Karthein also explained the signage that will be erected in the park, which will include a large four-sided kiosk funded by Ducks Unlimited and will feature maps, pic- tures and a list of the sponsors of the project. The project has cost about $190,000 to date and, according to committee members, they are very close to budget. The restoration of the lakefront will make it more accessible to the general public and it will become usable for both passive and recre- ational purposes, .committee members told council.
