Approximately 105 Leos, Lions and friends from six surrounding Towns enjoyed the dinner and an impressive ceremony which followed afterwards. Leo Clubs are affiliated with the Lions Clubs through- out the world and made up of young men and women, ages 15 to 20 years. Interest in municipal pol- itics proved not to have det- eriorated, even with the much talked about regional govern- ment, as nearly 100 township residents attended the meet- ing. Reeve Lawrence Maicoim was returned by acclamation to his post, whilé an election for deputy reeve and coun- cillors will take place Monday, December 7. How- ever, we have close ties and are dependent on Port Perry for High School, Hospital, arena and some fire protection," he said. : Mr. Malcolm said that if staying in the eastern region means amalgamation with Mapvers, Cavan, Millbrook and South Monaghan, that he could not personally see how it large spread out municipality with very little in common except the geography of being side by side,"' he said. "A year ago the general feeling in this township about remaining in an eastern region would have been YES, I am sure, he said, but today I would not be sure at all." Mr. Malcolm said that regi onal government was one of the main issues facing the new council and he hoped more of the township residents would relay their thoughts so council can be sure of act ing in accordance with their wishes.
