Heimer, storing hose cart .$ WM 86.00 15.00 I: > Pt threatened Rally Cut Short By at Third Base After getting off to a peachy start tag tip eight rounds in the first nings of Sunday's battle, the came very near dropping the t in the final innings, when the East Ends pot to Rossman with eance. However, the McHenry mound artist, with fine support, was able to extricate himself in the real .pinches, and once more our lads home on the long end of an 8 tfrY Score "Three hits, with the assistance of two passes, a couple of bad plays and base running, netted the home five runs in the third, while a htmce of hits, an error and sacrifice fly helped us to three more runs in the fourth. This ended McHenry's run making, as Williams, who replaced Anderson on the mound in the fifth round, proved rather stingy, allowing ' bat one hit and nary a run. In fact, only one of the home players was able to get onto the foot paths .during the ' last four innings of play. Rossman, for McHenry, pitched his usual strong game until the fifth . inning, when the visitors began to hammer his offerings in a manner that Was anything but pleasing to the supporters of the home crew and it was only the finest kind of support that saved him from total disaster in the final innings, thanks to the splendid v Work of Grantham in left field and ||tbe youngster (?), Bartell, at third. * The game by innings: ! First inning: Bartell threw out 'Chapin. Ross walked, stole second and went to third on Bowen's sacrifice, Bartell to Meyers. 0. Smith was thrown out by Rossman. No hits, no funs. McH<n£$:w Rossman drew a pass, stole second and went to third when the throw to get him at second got away from Moser. Knox struck out. Bartell laced a pretty double to center on which Rossman rode home. Bartell stole third and went home when Kimball hit to Bowen at third. It looked as if Bartell would surely be thrown out, but, after a game of tag, he finally crossed the pan when Bowen's throw got away from H Smith. Kimball took second on the play and then stole third. Meyers walked and stole second. Warner lifted a short high fly just back of second base, which fell safe when G. Smith, Chapin and Moser were trying to decide who would make the put-out; Kimball scoring while Meyers played it safe. Both men on the bases advanced a peg on a passed ball and scored a moment later on Grantham's double to left. Bolger struck out and Schaefer fouled to H. Smith. Three hits, five runs. - Fourth inning: Ross doubled over short and was caught stealing third. Bowen was thrown out by Rossman. G. Smith was safe on Warner's error. Mische hit to Warner, who touched second and got the ball to first in time for a doube play, altho the throw was not necessary. One hit, no runs. McHenry: Rossman singled to left and went to second on a passed ball. Knox rolled down the first base line and got past Schellenberger before the latter could tag him. He is credited with a hit. Rossman took third on the play. Knox stole second and both runners scored on BarteU's double to right. Bartell' stole third and came home on Kimball's sacrifice fly to left. Meyers struck out, while Warner was killed by Anderson and Schellenberger. Three hits, three runs.
