A considerable number of citizens of the county appeared before the board in the Interest of better roads, the board was addressed op this subject by P. J. Donovan, T>. T. Smilev. V. S. Lumley. Chas T. Allen and W. H. Wilbur, the prevailing opinion was that good roads were desired by all of the people, the only question being to determine the best method of getting them, the speakers named heretofore. outlined various methods for raising funds for this purpose. stated that same could be done by issuing bonds, or if preferred the question could be put up to an election in the form of levying a direct tax for that purpose. Upon motion the chair appointed a committee of five consisting of Supervisors S. II. Freund, IS. C. Hughes. John Conley. F. B. McConnell and A. EL Hale qs a snecial committee to investigate the matter. A special committee consisting of Supervisors Ackman, Barber and Kuecker were appointed to represent McHenry County In the matter of & County Line bridge near the County lines of Mc- H«nry and Boone in the Township of Marengo. The Highwav Commissioner of the Town of Hartland presented a petition asking that the County psar the necessary costs of the construction of a new bridge at the site known as the Whan bridge over a branch ef the Kishwaukee River on the line between Sections 29 aad 30 in said Township.
