It required two five minute extra periods to decide the winner, a basket and free throw by Bacon finally giving the local quintet an 18 to 17 victory. McKennell, scoring ace for the Aldan outfit, caged a pretty one during the last five minute period, thus bringing the visitors' score to 17. The score at the end of the first half stood 6 to ^ in fanror of the visitors. Whiting i^id Bacon were substituted for Green and Page during the last half of the game. The change proved a good one as the team started right out to do business after the whistle had sounded the start of the second half. Bacon especially proved a tower of strength to the home outfit, he scoring sixteen of Mci Henry's eighteen points. He surely ! looks like a comer and with a season's 'experience should develope into a real star. | The two teams lifted up a* follows: Alden McHenry McKwrnd^ik R. Peterson McWNl •m. McHenry, IS; Richmond, 11 1 The heavies of McHenry and Richmond staged a real contest. Altho the McHenry five went into the lead shortly after the opening of the struggle and succeeded in maintaining same thruout the entire proceedings, the Richmond lads kept crowding our boys all along the way and at one time it looked as if the visitors would surely catch up. ' Winkel and Overton proved the real stars for the home lads, the former scoring ten of BlcHenry's eighteen points. That little red head sure is there and when once "steamed up" it takes more than one man to keep him from shooting that old ball thru the loop. The McHenry outfit is showing improvement with each game and the enthusiasm shown by the players should assist them greatly in devoir oping into a real team very shortly. Even now the boys are putting up a very creditable article of ball, much to the delight of the many followers of the sport here. Both contests were unusually clean and free from unnecessary roughness, which st&nds to the credit of the athletes participating. M and 25 Cenu VILLAGE BOARD MET According to present prospects the ice harvesting season will start here soon after the advent of the New Year. However, a thaw may come at any time and thus delay the start. i Men and teams were busy on the pon3 this week, scraping off the snow in order that the ice might be given a chance to grow thicker. On Wednesday the ice on this body of water measured between seven and eight inches and those who harvest the frozen water each year are hoping that the present cold spell will keep up and thus enable than to start operations as planned. While a thaw is usually looked for at this time of the year, the icemen are hoping that it will not occur. They figure that with the snow scraped off the surface of the ice it will not take long for it to have grown to the desired thickness. In fact, under favorable weather condi tions ice has been known to grow from two to two and one-half inches in a single nigh^b.
