The modern health crusade movement has enrolled the multitude of children of our schools, who are now learning daily health habits. The penny sticker can be bought by rich and poor and have become popular and of widespread educational value. Mrs. Emma M. Buell, the county chairman, is thoroly organising McHenry county for the December sale. The Christmas seal sale is now on. Seals have been sent to every township in the county. A big sale is imperative that adequate funds may be provided to meet the responsibility placed upon the county in the fight against tuberculosis. Thru the united efforts of all the committees of every township in the county and all the teachers of our schools we hope to complete a perfect drive. According to a recent issue of a Waukegan paper, Mrs. Thomas Strong, who recently lost her life in a fire which destroyed her home at Grayslake, was a noblewoman. The story goes on to tell that she was disinherited when she married her father's coachman and to hide the secret of her identity she, with her husband, came to America. P. W. Prizes in gold will be given away every night during the celebration to, purchasers of goods in *Woodstoc1t [ The winner must be present at the drawing, however. The Christmas cantata to be presented by the Congregational churches of Woodstock and Crystal Lake wfll be the opening feature of the festival Tuesday evening at the opera house. From all indications this will be one of the most attractive offerings of the week. Next day the turkeys and geese will begin to fly from the tops of the Hoy, Bunker and Murphy blocks. Catchers of these gay birds will be winners. These events are set for 2:30 and 4 p. m. daily and a couple of extra ones at 10 a. m. and 1 p. m. Saturday. Come and carry one away for your Christmas dinner. Wednesday night has been reserved for the church services and Thursday night for the schools. Both will be well worth seeing. The high school band will be an attraction Thursday and Friday nights. The latter has been left open for any other events. ~ Thursday afternoon will be reserved for the big free picture show for ithe youngsters. Friday the big stunts will start. "Hie dog and carriage parade is set for the afternoon--at 3:30 p." m. A prize of $6 for the best looking dog and $3 for the worsts looking cur has been offered by the committee in charge. Another prize of ?5 goes to the person with the most dilapidated carriage in line. All dogs must be led by a bojr and every boy will get a box of candy. Come one, come all. If you miss your dog Friday afternoon, some down and see the parade--hell p*obaMy be there. A big attraction for Saturday afternoon will be the pig race. Anyone who has ever tried to catch a "slick" pig will be there to see the efforts of the othera-i-and the winner wili carry away the young pig for Christmas dinner. "Hie climax to the festival is set for Saturday night. The Christmas, tree celebration in the public square will be the main event. Four big trees-- one at each corner of the park--will be lighted and Santa Claus and everyone else will be thiere. During the week the houses will be in the park, at which money and other gifts for* the poor may be left. This is an annual event. All in all, it promises to be the biggest thing in Christmas celebrations ever seen in McHenry county. ADDITIONAL EXCHANGE The Williams Bay, Wis., high school now boasts of * thirty-two piece band. Floyd, the fourteen-year-eld son of Mr. and Mrs. James Yardley, residing on a farm three miles northwest of Woodstock, has been missing from his home since Dec. 4. About one-half of route 12 between Lake Geneva, Wis., and Genoa Junction has been paved. The balance of stretch between the two points will b*. completed next spring. The Elgin malted milk plant of the Borden company, which has been clotted for about a month on orders from the company's offices in New York, will re-open on Jan. 2. The plant gives employment to thirty. The Cary fire department will sponsor another bazaar to be held in that village on Saturday, Dec. 16, The net proceeds will be used in ]Mying off some of the indebtedness of the company as incurred in the purchase of up-to-date equipment.
