" McHENRY ICE CREAM COMPANY WHOLESALE PHONE 79-M McHENRY UNABLE TO DO A THING WITH ADAMSON*S DELIVERY Adamson, who occupied the hill for the Aurora Legion crew ait Aurora last Sunday afternoon came very near being the whole show. He allowed the McHenry outfit but three wee hits and sent nine of our athletes down via the strike-out route. While it is true that he was given some sparkling support, his masterful pitching really won the game for Aurora. Blessed with a good assortment of curves and fast balls he kept his offerings well mixed, thereby keeping the McHenry gang guessing thruout the entire contest with the result that our boys were forced to bow to a 4. to 0 defeat, the first that they have suffered this season. While Adamson , was "doing his stuff," Davison wa$ also exhibiting his wares which had the Aurora outfit guessing for seven innings. The eighth, however, proved the big one, the down river lads succeeding in slipping three runs over the rubber in th is stanza. McHenry had but one chance ( to score, this coming in the third inning. Kingsley spoiled the opportunity by pulling a bad one. The game by innings was as follows: FIRST INNING: Gross popped to Durant at second. Kern was thrown out by Wright and Rosier lifted to Otis in left. No hits, no runs. Aurora: Wright drew a walk. Anderson lifted to Kosier in right. Otis shot a single over the second base bag but met his fate in a double killing when Roth rolled to Kern& One hit, no runs. SECOND INNING: Bailey struck out. Walczek was thrown out by Adamson and Repas fanned. No hits, no runs. Aurora: Givens struck out. Durant lifted to Repus in center. Garin singled to right and was then caught off of first and run to death between that station and second base, Davison paving the way to the put-out. One hit, no runs. THIRD INNING: Rogers was safe on Roth's bum peg to first. Kingsley rolled to Adamson. The latter in his haste to start a double play, made a poor peg to second with the result that both runners were not only safe but advanced an extra base. When the Aurora outfit again settled down, Rogers was resting on third and Bailey on second, with none out. Things really looked pretty for McHenry. Davison struck out. Gross lifted a tall fly to Wyatt in center. Rogers came home on the play but Kingsley sort of lost himself at second and was nailed at that bag by Wyatt's fine Epeg. Thus our chances of scoring had faded away. No hits, no runs. FOURTH INNING: Anderson made a wonderful one-handed stop of Kern's hot rap down the third base line, getting his man by a foot. It was easily the feature play of the afternoon and "heedless to say, the Elgin speed king was given a hand. Kosier connected for McHenry's first hit of tthe day with a single thru short. Bailey struck out and Walczek met his fate via Anderson and Givens. One hit, no runs. . , Aurora: Anderson singled to left and was caught off of first. Davison sure did have those boys hugging first base after that. Otis fanned and Roth was whipped out by Gross. One hit, no runs. FIFTH INNING: Repas struck out. Rogers was thrown out by Durant and Kingsley skied to Wyatt in deep center. No hits, no runs. Aurora: Givens lifted to Repas in center. Durant was given life on Walczek's error. In fact the runner went all the way to second on our short stop's bad peg to first. Durant then scored on Garin's single past first Wyatt and Adamson both struck out. One hit, one run. SIXTH INNING: Gross singled to left and stole second. Kern struck out and Kosier made Durant sprint some to take down his fly in slgprt right. One hit, no runs. Aurora: Wright struck out. Anderson was whipped out by Walczek anti Otis met his fate via the strikeout route. No hits, no runs. SEVENTH INNING: Bailey lifted to Durant. Walczek out, Durant to Givens. Repas fanned. No hits, no runs. Aurora: Roth lifted to Kosier in right. Givens walked and a moment later was the victim of a force out when Durant rplled to Gross. Durant then was caught off of first and ran to his death betwten that station and reoond. No hits, no runs. . EIGTHTH INNING: Rogers out, Wright to Givens. Kingsley shot a single to center. Davison lifted to Wyatt in center and Gross was thrown out by Anderson. One hit, no runs. Aurora: Garin wfis safe on Roger's error and advanced to second on Wyatt's infield hit to Davison. Adamson tapped to Davison who tossed to Gross, killing Garin. Wyatt took second on the play while Adamson reached firsts Both runners advanced a notch when Wright drew a walk. With the bases louded Anderson came thru with a single thru Kern. The latter made a desperate try for the pill but the best he was able to do was to stop it* speed. Before the ball was recovered in short left, Wyatt and Adamson had crossed the pan while Wright was resting on third. Anderson tried to M'-HENRY'S HOWE OF AMUSEMENT THURSDAY; JULY 3 ' Armond Melnofte The Great Triple Voice Singer and Impersonator of Famous Stage Celebrities He will chance his character impersonation with each chance of the feature during the week.
