A party of about thirty young people tendered Miss Dorothy Bauers a very pleasant surprise at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Beuers, last week Wednesday in honor of her seventeenth birthday. Those present expressed themselves as being well pleased with the good time afforded them and the delightful luncheon served. The closing of the forty hour devotion services last Sunday night was witnessed by a ltr^ge crowd, quite a number from McHenry and Volo being present. The priests who came to help celebrate the closing were Rev. Father Schark of Volo, Rev. Charles Nix and Rev. John Hackett of McHenry. The missionary, Rev. Father Wisermann of Chicago, who was here during that time, and Rev. Wm. Weber, pastor of St. John's church, rendered beadtfful sermons every night. < OSTEND P. The house on the Rogers farm, now owned by Mr. Howe, is being treated to a fine coat of white paint. Two trucks from Woodstock came over and hauled hay from the farm recently vacated by Don Hall. A new tool house is being erected on the Mrs. Richardson farm, occupied the past seven years by Tony Freiind. The highest price paid for a basket was $7.00. We were wondering if there was seven dollars' worth of food in the basket. Miss Ammie Francisco's health remains about the same. No material change. She expects to have the remainder of her teeth taken out and then will look for more permanent relief. She visits her doctor Whenever she gets out of medicine.
