't , Adelbert Moore is the name of our tiew resident on the farm purchased of William Bonslett, formerly the home 4>f Gilbert Harris and family. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Grube and Mr. and Mrs. Steinbach of Chicago were Sunday guests in the home of Mrs. Grube's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Mertes. Mr. and Mrs. Jos. H. Adams. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith and ^family, Otto Adams, Miss Coletta Freund, Math. Adams and Miss Dorothy Bauer passed Sunday at Holy Hill, Wis. A number of friends gathered at tho home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph P. Miller one evening recently to assist their son, Tony, in celebrating his twentyfirst birthday anniversary. A fine time was reported by the guests. Johns burg School Exercises The graduation exercises of the Johnsburg school were held at parish hall in that village on Monday evening of this week and were largely attended, there being many present from McHenry and Volo. Among those present from out of town were Rev. M. J. Mc- Evoy of McHenry and Rev. Schmitt of Oklahoma. The class, numbering fourteen, eight boys and six girls, presented one of the finest programs ever given by students of that school. Each number on the program was well received by the large audience and brought forth much applause. Ethel C. Coe, county superintendent of schools, gave a very interesting and instructive talk to the graduates and those assembled, after which she presented each student finishing the course a diploma. Rev. Wm. Weber also addressed the audience in his usual pleasing manner. • There were three of the class who had made an unusual record, that of never being absent during the years they had attended school. They were Emma Schaefer, Marie Mertes and Frederick Huemann. The class motto was "Character I? the Only True Diploma ;M the class colors, light blue and silver, and the class flower was the forget-me-not. The following composed the class of 1925: Leo Diedrich, Josephine Freund, Ralph Justen, Marie Mertes, Leo Michels, Rosina Schaefer. Eight men came out from Chicago Monday to put up the scaffold and also the three artists from Europe to do the decorating in our church. Miss Frances Pitzen of Chicago came out Monday to spend the week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Pitzen, and other relatives. Miss Martha Miller went to Chicago a week ago Monday to the hispital foe an operation on her tonsils and returned home the following day. Little Miss Wanda Schmitt of McHenry is spending a few days with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs, Ppter Williams. Mrs. Lawrence Siehoff, little daughter, Bertha, and son, Robert, of Bur lington, Wis., spent last week in the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs John Hiller arid family. Her parents and their son, Leo, took her back Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. Fred P. Schaefer of Chicago and her brother and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Schaefer and children, Evelyn, Lorina and Daniel, of McHenry, Misses Mildred and Susie Frett and Miss Helena Witt and John Freund of Chicago were Sunday guests in the home of Mr. .nd Mrs. Peter Schaefer The children of St. John's Catholic school had a nice closing program this week Monday evening and a large attendance was present. The following names are the graduates of 1925, Ralph Justen, Leo Michels, Leo Diedrich, Michael Schaefer, Leo F. Smith, Charles and Raymond Schaefer, Frank Sompel, Marie Mertes, Rosena Schaefer, Josephine Freund, Emma Schaefer, Isabelle Schmitt and Frances Smith. The latter could not be present as she is quite seriously sick. The school superintendent awarded them with the diplomas. SLOCUM LAKE H. L. Brooks was a business caller at Gilmer last Thursday. Putnam farm near Wauconda. • HIS BIRTHDAY ANNIVERSARY A company of relatives and friends tendered Mr and Mrs. Edmund Knox a very pleasant surprise at their home on Waukegan street last Sunday evening, the occasion being planned and executed in honor of the birthday anniversary of Mr. Knox. JOHN BREFELD AND MISS LONA WADSWORTH WED A wedding of interest to a large number of people in this community was solemnized at St. Thomas' Catholic church at Kenosha, Wis., at nine o'clock on Tuesday morning of this week when Rev. Father O'Malley pronounced Mr. John Brefeld of Waukegan and Miss Lona Wadsworth of Kenosha man and wife. The ceremony was followed by high mass and thence a reception at the home of the bride's parents.' Attending the couple were Miss Esther Wadsworth, a sister Ato the bride, and Paul Brefeld of this city, a brother to the groom. The bride's wedding dress was of white crepe de chine. She Wore a tulle veil and carried a ? bouquet of roses and lilies of the" valley. The bridesmaid Was attired in a gown of blue crepe de chine and tarried a bouquet of roses. ^ >. The bride is the second da-ughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wadsworth of Kenosha and is a highly esteemed younc lady. In her home city she has the admiration of a large circle of friends. Sljp has made frequent visits in this city during the past two years or more, during which time she has won the acquaintance of a number of out young people. • • The groom is the oldest son of Mn' and Mrs. Ben J. Brefeld of this city He was born and grew to manhood here. During the past five years ho has been a valued employee in the clothing store at Wankegan conducted by his uncle, Edward Wirfs. He is a very fine type of young manhood whe commands the respect of everyone who shares his acquaintance. After a short honeymoon the couple will go tp housekeeping at Waukegan where they will make their future home. McHenry friends extend congratulations. CORN PRODUCTS EMPLOYEES COMING TO LAKE SUNDAY Employees in the office and clerical departments of the Corn Products Ra» fining company of Argo, 111., together with their wives and families are com* ing here next Sunday for their annual outing. The entire delegation which, it is expected, will number between four and five hundred people, will drive up from Argo in automobiles. The outing will take place at the sum-, mer home of Chas. Lindquist located on Pistakee Lake, not far distant front the Bald Knob hotel. A dance plat* form, erected on the premises last year, will afford a place for those wllo wish to dance while others will enjoy swimming, boating and fishing or whatever form of out-door amusement their hearts may desire.
