Dancing Wednesday and Saturday Evening* SOCIETY 01 One-half Mile Nerth of McHenry Brtigp fr Not so many years ago the land along the Fox River, near McHenry, was mostly farms, swamps and wooded sections. Most of it was what is generally known as wild land and considered of bat value. Gradually people began to realise what a transformation could be made In this wonderland of nature. A few homes were erected along the river and one by one they kept going up until the Box River and Lakes region is known throughout the Central West as one of the most attractive to Maimer residents anywhere in the country. In order to get some idea of what we have in this locality it is necessary for one to make a trip up and down the river and into the lakes by boat, following this by an auto trip along the river shore and around the chain of lakes. People who were fortunate enough to be bom and raised here do not seem to appreciate how kind Providence has been to them. They have grown up among these beauties of nature, But to the stranger who visits this summer playground, the wondrous sights which greet him cause surprise and create a desire to spend days, weeks and months out in the open. It would be impossible in this small spam to even attempt to enumerate, let alone describe, what attractions we are offering here for summer residents. We have them now by the hundreds, but we honestly believe and predict that the future of McHenry and what surrounds the little city holds in store an influx of population, coming from the big city of Chicago and northern Illinois, fully as great if not larger than any other locality located within hundreds of miles in any direction. With the many hard roads leading to McHenry and vicinity, some already built and many others planned, there is nothing that can stop the growth of our city and the country lying north east and south of it McHenry, the "Gateway City," invites you to come and see what we have; stay a day or two, or all summer. If you like the place, there are many desirable lots to be found where homes can be erected. Enter the "Gateway City." It's a friendly town and the welcome sign means Just what it reads.
