FEBRUARY 24, 1927 SPRING GROVS Mrs. Chester Stevens was a Chicago passenger Monday. She expects to spend the week visiting relatives and -friends. Rev. Schunick, N. N. Weber and Math- Lay motored jto Chicago Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Rauen and daughter of Chicago were Monday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Rauen. Mrs. Alfred Richardson motored to McHenry Monday afternoon. Her brother, Mr. Cooley, returned with her. Mr. and Mrs. Clydte Parfrey were passengers for Chicago Wednesday. Frank Adams and Vyvian Hergott motored to Milwaukee Thursday and spent the day with the former's wife, who is very much improved and expects to be with her family soon. Mr. and Mrs. Merton Gracy of Honey Creek called here Monday. * Mrs. .Grace Gardner was a Chicago passenger Monday. Mrs. Jennie Oxtoby motored to Richmond Friday and attended a Relief Corps meeting. On Saturday evening Seliam Pierce was pleasantly surprised by a few friends and relatives coining and spending the evening. Cards and .some real good old-fashioned pieces of music were given on the violin and appreciated by all present. The guests included were Mr. and Mrs. Martin Butler, Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Oxtoby, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Pierce and three children, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Carr and Mrs. Fanny Carr. Mrs. Charles Behrnes and Dorothy spent Saturday in the city with relatives. Mrs. Bertha Esh and Mrs. Nick Klein were Ringwood callers Friday. A large delegation from here motored to McHenry Thursday and attended the road meeting which was held at that place. The Lotus Woman's club entertained guests at their club rooms Wednesday, the program being for Washington's birthday. A new program was rendered by the president, Mrs. Furlong, and Mrs. Frances Shotliff, which was appreciated by all. After the program the guests farmed a grand march, the music being given by Mrs. Walter Winn, aTound the hall and as a reminder of the Washington cherry tree story a large sack resembling a cherry filled with gifts, suspended from the ! celing, from which each guest received a present by reaching in it, after which a delicious luncheon was served by the committee. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Peacock were Sunday dinner guests with the latter's sister, Mrs. Frank Sanders, and family. Mr. Robb is numbered with the sick at this writing. Warrea Pierce of Richmond trans* acted business here Monday. Twenty-eight of our firemen enjoyed the evening Wednesday at the town hall. After . the business was over, lunch was served and a few remained and enjoyed a card game. Miss Mae Keefee of Elgin spent over Sunday here with her brother and uncles. Miss Vyvian Skedsmo, who is attending school 'id the city, was home over Sunday/ Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sanders motored to Antioch,'Saturday. Miss Margaret Ayllwilder, who tt spending the winter in the city attending school, spent over Sunday with her mother. ;f; Edward Keefee and Miss Keefee motored to McHenry Thursday. Weber and John Schmitt of Johnsburg motored to Waukegan to spend a few hours with Arthur Franzen, who is at the hospital. Mr. Franzen expects to be home the last of the week. Mr. Lysle spent the week-end at Kenosha. He todk the mail clerk examination while there. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bhrnes spent Washington's birthday in the city and saw Paul Ash. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Hawley and two daughters, Shirley and Marian, spent Sunday at Crystal Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Hopper of Eltrin spent Sunday afternoon in the home of Mrs. Ruth Hopper. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hawley of Chicago spent the week-end in the E. C. Hawley home. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Weidrich were Monday morning callers in Ringwood. Mrs. Hazel Thompson and Robert Thompson of Chicago spent Sunday in the Ellen Hall home. Matt Welter is spending a few days in Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Nick Young and daughter, Adele, and Joseph Young and family spent Wednesday with Mr. and Mrs. Matt Glossen. Viola Rager is again able to go to school, after being seriously ill. There was a farewell surprise party held at the schoolhouse on Tuesday evening, Feb. 22, for William and Maigaret Thompson. They will leave for Downers Grove to make their future home. The twenty-second was lso William's birthday. S. W. Brown and son, Leonard, pent Tuesday evening at McHenry. Kirk L. Schroeder, who has been quite sick, is again able to sit up a little. Mrs. Lewis Schroeder was a Monday evening caller in McHenry. Smith and daughter, Bernice, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Smith and Mrs. Emma Brown, attended the funeral of the late Ellis Hughes of Hebron on Saturday. Margaret Thompson and William Thompson, will leave the home of Ellen Hall and will go to Downers Grove to live with their mother, Mrs. Hazel Thompson. Mrs. Mary Green and son, William, of McHenry spent Friday afternoon at Ringwood.
