M. Harris of Kane county, announced recently. McHenry county teachers, through Mrs, Ethel Coe, county superintendent of schools, recently requested permision to join Kane and Kendall county teachers in their institute prosrram and the request has been granted. Henry Hbffert, president of the Capitol Pet Shops, Inc., Chicago, and said to be the largest dealer in dogs and birds in the Middle West, has bought the Theo. Johnson place on Route 19 in Crystal Lake and started preparations far a dog kennel there. George Olberg had a most narrow escape from death Thursday night of last week when artificial respiration was brought into play to save his life. Olberg had been swimming in Lake Zurich and suffered an attack of the heart, causing him to go down in the water. Friends rescued him and took him to a home nearby. A physician was summoned and worked over the man from nine o'clock that night until one o'clock the next morning before bringing him to a state of consciousness. Roger Jackson, 28, who resided on the Geneva road, a mile and a half northeast of the village of Bristol met death suddenly last week when he fell from a scaffolding upon which he and a companion were working. Thieves entered the Radtke Barber Shop on Main street, Antioch, recently and made way with more than $300 worth of tools, equipment and supplies. Maurice Radtke, one of the owners of the shop, arrived at the place the folowing morning and found the glass in the" back door broken in and the room in disarray. Investigation showed that all of the razors, clippers, scissors, combs and other barber tools possessed by the firm had been stolen. Eight and a half dollars and an unusual experience is what it cost T. J. Nachowitz of Berwyn for a pheasant dinner Tuesday. Mjr. Nachowitz was travelling near .Mt. Prospect when the dinner literally dropped into his lap out of a clear sky. He says that he was driving on the highway when something suddenly flew against his windshield and broke it, cutting his hands and face in several places. His first thought was that someone had fired a shot at him but then he felt something in his lap and looking down found that a prize pheasant had been the cause of the damage. Herva D. Lace, 37, general manager of the Allen Ice Cream company of Rockford the past four months and a brother of Glen Lace of St. Charles, was drowned one day this past week, when he fell into a roof water storage tank on top of the ice cream factory building. The Allen Ice Cream company was formerly owned by Mayor Burt M. Allen of Rockford. Whether Richmond will have gas service in the village by December first or not, is a point being freely discussed by the local residents. The Western United Gas & Eelctric Co., has a franchise to pipe gas into the illage residences which must be installed by December first of this year.
