M. ^obdell, county superinetndent of highways. He had hoped to open this highway to traffic before Thanksgiving, but adverse weather conditions held up construction for sometime. While working on a car. last Saturday, R. G. Rockenbach of the Grayslake Garage accidentally kicked the gears into reverse while the motor was running. The car shot out of the garage and through the doors, tearing both down and shattering the glass. Joe Sikes, who was sitting in the back seat, managed to stop the machine within a short distance after it went through the doors. No damage was done to the car, but the doors of the garage were badly wrecked. Renewed activity on the part of the Antioch Farmers Dairy company was started recently, following a meeting of local dairymen last Wednesday night with the owners of the Antioch dairy plant at the Danish hall. The Antioch Farmers' Dairy Co., was organized last January when prospects seemed rosy for the reopening of the local plant, after an option for the purchase of the plant had been obtained from the Bronxham company of Chicago. . Four suspicious characters, believed to be Chicago gunmen, were arrested about ft o'clock Sunday morning of last week in Fox River Grove by James Bailey, chief of police. The four men had been loitering about the Fox River Grove cafe and when the officer arrived there one of them was flourishing a revolver. The other men had some tear gas bombs in their possession. The four were taken before Ervin LeGros, police magistrate. ji i m Ul H MRS. MARGARET C. OWEN Mrs. Margaret Curtis Owen, 70 years old, wife of George W. Owen, 503 Center street, Elgin, died Monday, Nov. 28, at her home following a long illness. Mrs. Owen was born in McHenry, 111., Nov. 20, 1857, and had lived in Elgin for the last thirty years. She was a member of the Episcopal church and the Eastern Star lodge. She is survived by her husband, one son, Newton C. Owen of San Francisco, one daughter, Mlrs. A. E. Perry of Sioux City, la., and one sister, Mrs. F. C. Calkins of Roseburg, Ore. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Episcopal church at Elgin with interment in Woodland cemetery at McHenry.
