We presume that all those who have had business with him In his official capacity will rejoice to learn that Dr. James Northrop, U. S. He resigned in time to save himself the mortification of being removed.-- For a long time his treatment of union soldiers has been tlte subject of serious complaint, and it has been freely charged against hi in, that on account of want of sympathy for the cause the soldiers fought for. he has made It a point to do ju*l as little for them as he could, and when they have finally obtained pensions in opposition to his recommendations, to cause their stop page whenever possible. The case of a well known business man In this town list year attracted much attention, but the Board in Chicago, soon imade the matter right, aud his pension was re stored.
