They got together aud gave a little concert In the evening. Mr. Oleson brought back two lioys with hiiu. He witl find place for them In this neighborhood, but probably will himself go to Mluuesota soon. Another dance Js advertised to tfeke place May 26. , We understand that Mr. u. W. Pratt, who has been keeping a thorough bred setter for the past two years for Henry Tetsner, of Elgin; will ship him to his owner to-morrow. Tlie dog is one of the finest and best broke In the State. Fifty dollars was refused for him a short time ago. Our brother correspondent for the Oazr.Us lias resumed his custom of occasionally reporting news witli an apparent utter disregard for the facts in the case, although iu tlie present instance there appears nothing malic ious In the misrepresentation. We are disposed to be charitable to onr brother for hjs occasional inaccuracies, as Justice being blind always aud un known In Waucouda, Is thereby pre vented from proving the truth of ru mors by personal Investigations. Last week he reported that G. W. Pratt. 8r~ ^was one of the parties who shot across the lake and sent bullets iu close prox imity to Mr. Mulr's wagon shop. Per haps he heard that tlie "fellow at the hoteP went out with onr resident western scout, and as Mr. Pratt could pass for the "fellow at the hotel" his name was mentioned to save space. The facts are tiiat a lad from the frontier, known among the lads as Arizona Frank, struck the town a week or two ago, and put up at the hotel. Naturally he soon formed the acquaint ance of our resident Indian fighter. Of bourse these two congenial spirits soon tliirsted|for blood, and procuring arms started for the lake presumably for ducks. Only they and their maker know all the details of their adventure, but it seims probable that falling to bit any ducks their attention was directed to tlie village of Waucouda, which to their eyes, being sccustomed to magnificent objects and distances, seemed only a fair sized mark. To be sure, that isn't much like snuffing a caudle at 49 yards without extinguish lug the flame, ns might be expected from these rangprs. but then Arizona Frank explained tiiat he had fired (10 cartridge* at a duck without hitting it, and naturally he wanted to lilt some thing. Anybody would -- yen would. To be suse they claimed that they fired at^ the ducks, ami the bullets hitting the water rebouuded, thereby causing the coin mot ion in tlw village. It is known that bullets do tills sometimes wlt«>n the winds aiid waves are favor able; hut whether It was thus iu the present instance, or whether, liaving failed iu their attempts at hitting •lucks, trees, barn doors, ere., they desperately tried to hit Wauconda, will probably never lie certainly known. Although even Wauconda didn't prove to be big enough it is hoped they will continue the experiment, as repeated practice might mak0 them more suc cessful, To quiet the nervous we will state t|iat A. Clothier, In this part of the county. He would fill the bill with credit. He Is a man of unblemlstfed character and undisputed ability. It would lie an honor to our people td send such a man to the Legislature, It is said an old farmer wanted to make a clergyman of his son because he was too stupid for any other purpose, and the quality of some of onr legislators would lead one to suspect they were chosen for the same reason.
