Oa Monday the 8th, Inst., we opened the doors of our Institution, and it is now being rayidly filled by the class of people for whom it was designed. Aud right here we would remark that, although, our provisions have been as ample as our means would permit, we fear the near future will demonstrate to us the necessity of greater facilities for the care of our unfortunate people. We have engaged Mr. Newton Robb and family, consist ing of himself, wife and daughter, to superintend tho farm, and Institution at a salary of #600.00 per annum, term commencing December 1st. Al though, Mr. Robb is inexperienced in the Business, we feel that we have been fortunate in our selection. Our poor house and asylum, has now become a fixed and permanent In stitution of our county, and It only requires good management on the part ot the superintendent and the undlvd- ed assistance and support of your hon orable body, and your successors, In that direction, to make it what WO *11 earnestly desire and expect a grand success, and an Institution which tfi* people of our county will feel proud of. Our farm has produced the past season. 50 tons of hay, 1# acre* of ooru, 400 bu of oats, 350 bu of potatoes, 15 of beans, 300 buof turnips and 900# bead of cabbage. From your appropriation for the purchase of stock we now have upon the farm, 11 cowl, 3 3 year-old heifers, and 9 hogs ready for the barrel which will weign a' oat 300B>S each The entire cost of which Is 1634.
