Richards, of Mellenry county, read a paper'on wool growlne, in which he rook an encouraging view of the future. lie believed that better times were in store for the woolgrower and that there would be no more un favorable legislation to contend with. A. discussion as to the advisability or crossing with larger but coarser fleeced varieties, developed a gonei'al senti ment against sacrificing the fleece for the carcass. Nearly ail were in favor of thoroughbreds or high grades, al though Mr. Vandercook stated that on a western ranch, where the profit was in the carcass, he was crossing $vit!i larger sheep. A hopeful viettr of the future was taken by all. Mr. Peck was re-elected president for another year, and Mr. W. C. Vander cook secretary and treasurer. T. McD. Richards, of Woodstock, was chosen first .vice-president., and Will P. Smith, of Oary Station, second vice-prcstdent. It was decided to hold the annual sheep shearing festival at Richmond, April 29 and 30. Fred Coltison,of that placet was appointed superintendent and R. Lawson, assistant. Its parents are well developed, and the three children born to them before the present young ster were of the regulation size. The surprised parents and the attending physician are unable to account for the strange fr^ak of nature. The baby's body could be circled by a 14 year-old child's thumb and index finger. The head, perfectly formed, is about the size of a crab-apple.
