I wonder if McHeiWy people know the pleasures of a trip to Fox Lake. I tell you Fox Lake is not to be sneezed at. Its fixtures, from the frail, feeble Col. Lippiucott to the quill shooting Tad pole welcome all visitors with practical hospitality. Captains Hill and Yager study to accommodate everybody. At' Kines' Hotel the worthy hostess Mrs. Kines was voted the picture, and at Shanty Grove Capt. Hill was voted the most popular ma.i at the Lakes. Ed. Howard has not yet gone stark mad but we learn that the dog which bit him has since died. Howard's Hotel is in full bloom, as are the Lotus Beds; at either place we guarantee all visit ors the worth of their m iney. Wood stock <s yet afflicted with rings and thugs. D. W. Thomas came In with a car load of milch cows on Saturday last He Is finding very rsady sale for his cows. Win. Morton started north on Satur day last, to buy milch cows.* There was a glass ball shoot here on Wednesday of last week, between the Nunda and Algonquin teams. The Nunda's broke 67 ball out of 100, and Algonquin broke 64 out of 100. Frank Benthusen and family moved back to Algonquin to awhile. Mias Birdie Morton is visiting with friends in Elgin. We are sorry to lose Miss Steveus, who is obliged to give up her work here on account of rheumatism, from which she sufiers greatly. DIED,--At his residence, Aug. 11th 1885, E. W. Bri^ham. The funeral obsequies were conducted by Rev. J Currer. Mr. Brlgham was one of the fist settlers of Hebron township, com lng here when this was the undisput ed home of the red man. He built the first log house in the township, stifler- ing the privations of the early settler and sharing in the general welfare and prosperity of our country. He was a man of quiet habits and respected by all. At last, on account of his useless ness, willingly and longingly glviug up his place among men.
