Woodstock was the scene of a fire last Saturday evening, that destroyed the v-scuuyier huu noifter oarns, in the norm part of the city, and but for the heroic work of neighbors and others both resi dences would have been consumed, as the fire department, though promptly on hand, was unable to d<3 much good on account of the scarcity of water. Now look out §*V -- for the invitations for the New Year's ; •, Party. SOME horrid man has said, "If women P'*; weald pay less attention to bread win- ;; uing and more attention to bread mak ing there'd be less dyspepsia and more weddings abroad in the land." The- re. •- mark contains lots of truth even if there j- are many people who do not believe it. £ THERE are men who love to dander kl?1 their neighbors and attempt to pull fA -down those who helped them most if (!T, their selfish interests seem to so demand.
