For years he has avoided Nervousness, Sleeplessness, Ir - digestion, Heart trouble, Constipation and Rheumatism, by using Electric Bitters, and he writes: "It .can't be praised too highly. It gently stimu lates the kidneys, tones the stomach, aids digestion, and gives a splendid appetite. It Mas worked, wonders for my wife and me. It's a marvelous remedy for old people's complaints." The natives of Natal lately noticed, In gathering a certain kind of rubber pitch (eurphorbium), used for medical pur poses, that knives used in cutting the plants were impervious to rust. The knives were covered with a thin tenacious coating which protected them against oxidation. The an thou ties took the matter in hand and found that iron and steel coated with this substance and immersed in sea water for two years showed no signs of rust. It was also discovered that this material protects wood against the ravages of ants, which are one of the worst enemies of civili zation in the tropics.
