Chewning left Tuesday night for Ipgersoll, Canada, in the interest of the Borden Condensed Milk Co. Walter Carter has secured employ­ ment with the C. & N. W. R. R. Co. in the freight department at Chicago. Walter Keys is taking a two week's vacation from the factory and will spend his time at his uncle's farm near Bass- wood Island. Mr. and Mrs. George Bradley, Mrs. M. D. Covert and children and Mrs Chas. Covert visited with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Covert at Elgin Tuesday afternoon Frank Minard of Carpeutersville, formerly of Algonquin, employed in the Illinois Iron and Bolt Works, had his left foot smashed and his face and head bruised in the street car collision at Elgin Sunday afternoon. His foot was amputated above the ankle by Drs. Rutledge and Clark at the Sherman hos­ pital.
