"While picnicking last month my 11- year-old boy was poisoned by some weed or plant," says W. H. Dibble, of Sioux City, la. "He rubbed the poison off his hands into his eyes and for a while we were afraid he would loose his sight. Finally a neighbor recommended De- Witt's Witch Hazel Salve. The first application helped him and in a few days he was ft# well as ever." For skin diseases, cuts, burns, scalds, wounds, insect bites, DeWitt's Witch Hazel Salve is sure cure. Relieves piles at once. Beware of counterfeits. Julia Story, McHenry; G. W. Bealey, West McHenry. From present appearances the Mc Henry pickle factory will fall short in its productions this season. At this time o»ljr £500 bushels of cucumbers have been taken and they are coming in slow ly at that. Stafford and Goldsmiths factories in Indiana are more than making up for the deficiency however. With each succeeding year tha McHen ry «rop seems to grow less. My boy when four years old was taken with colic and cramp* in ths stomach. I sent for the doctor and he injected morphine, but the child kept getting worse. I then «ave him half a teaapoonful of Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy, and in half an hoar he waa sleeping and soon recovered.--F. L. Wilkins, Shell Lake, Wis. Among the successful stories which have recently been enjoyed by 'Record- Herald readers are "Granstark," by George B. McCutcheon; "When Knight hood Was in Flower," by Charles Major, and "Alice of Old Vincennes, by Manrice Thompson. Every issue contains also a short illustrated "human interests" story on the editorial page. Readers of The Chicago Record-Herald can depend upon a never-failing source of pleasant entertainment in the note worthy fiction that is always to be found in its columns. pi--. • fc,. Not Qver-Wlse. There is an old allegorical picture of a girl scared at a grass-hopper, but in the act of heedlessly treading on a snake. This is paralleled by the man who spends a large sum of money building a cyclone cellar, but neglects to provide his family with a bottle of Chamber lain's Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy as a safeguard against bowel complaints, whose victims outnumber those of the cyclone a hundred to one. This remedy is everywhere recognized as the most prompt and reliable medi cine in use for these diseases. For sale by all druggists. CASTOR IA For Infants and Children, Hi Mid Y« Han Always Bought -is*, Bears the Signature of Sfei WEEKLY CROP BULLETIN. The weather was unseasonably cool during the week over the state, except in the extreme southern portion where more nearly normal temperatures pre vailed. Heavy rains occurred the first of the we^k over most of the northern and central districts, and good, bene ficial showers fell in the southern dis trict. The latter part of the we4k was generally drier, making farm work pos sible; and plowing progressed rapidly, except in the north where very little has been done. Threshing is still in progress, though it is mostly finished in the southern, and is nearing completion in the central district. Corn is generally in very finev condi tion, but it is maturing very slowly in the northern half of the state, owing to continued cool and wet weather; and some lodging by high winds is reported in a few localities of the central district. Potatoes have suffered further injury by rotting; and, though the crop promises to be large, the quality will be only fair. Pastures have improved in the southern district, and are now in excel lent condition in all sections of the state. ' All Were 5aved. "For years I suffered such untold misery from Bronchitis," writes J. H. Johnston, of Broughton, Ga-, "that of ten I was unable to work. My wffe' suffered in tensely from Asthma, till it cured her, and all our experience goes to show it is the best Croup medicine in the world. There was one famous building of an tiquity, it is said in an article on Light ning, in Leslie's Monthly for September which, according to the records, was never once struck by lightning during its thousand years of existence, although placed high on a hill above a city in a mountain region where storms are very frequent. It was the Temple of Solomon at Jerusalem. The temple was overlaid within and without with plates of gold*. Now gold is one of the best electric con ductors, and in this way the whole build ing was protected with a perfection and thoroughness that has never been at tempted before or since.
