Bell, the Elgin side walk con tractor and builder, was in McHenry Saturday looking up the situation. J. F. Mrs. D. G. Wells and son left yester­ day for Montreal. Canada, where they will visit Mr. Wells' parents, expecting to return about the first of October. Mrs. L. Eisenmenger, of Nunda, and Mrs. Fred Kruger and son, Leslie, of Dundee, were visiting with L. Eisen­ menger, Jr., and wife one day last week. Miss Rosina Reynolds left this week for Cleveland, Ohio, where she will vis­ it her brother, A. W. She will also take a trip to Buffalo and Niagara Falls. R. A. Cunningham, of Chicago, visit­ ed with Jacob Bartz and family over Sunday and Mrs. Cunningham returned to the city Monday evening with him. Mr. and Mrs. Chas, Kraft of Esther- ville, Iowa, have been guests In the home of Attorney and Mrs. C. P. Barnes the past week. W. E. Wire, the Hebron banker and ex-politician, attended the commence­ ment exercises in thik city last week Thursday evening. The closing exercises were held at Todd Seminary for Boys last Friday, and a general scattering of the member­ ship took place in the evening, A. J. Quintan came out from Chicago last Friday, being out of a job for the time being on account of one of the numerous labor strikes in the big ciiy. Fred Brink, who has been running an engine between Jackson and Mounds, Tenn., has been visiting with his moth­ er, brothers and friends in this city the past week. P. B. Still returned last Saturday evening from his winter's stay in Cal­ ifornia and appears to be much im­ proved in healih, which his friends will be glad to know. The classmates of Norman Frame perpetrated a surprise on him last Sat­ urday evening at the home of his par­ ents on Dean street, and a most enjoy- able time was had by all ptesent. Thos. McD. Richards rettlrned on Monday from an extended stay in Cal­ ifornia. He is not yet decided whether he Will return to that sunny 'and or not. His many friends are glad to again be able to greet him.
