French, returned to her home in the city Sunday. A large crowd was at the ball grounds the first of the week to witness the game between the Genoa boys and the Wiluiot-Spring Grove nine. The score was 24 to 8, in favor of the latter team. The large bam on the Harm Cole farm northeast of town was struck by lightning last week Thursday even ing, and with about 75 or 80 tons of bay, a tread power and lumber wagon, went up in flames. 'Twas a terrible fire, but luckily no stock was in the barn when struck. When you talk about doctors,," gaeee we are in it, too. Last Friday seemed to be their day here as our town was alive with them. Drs. Berrick of He bron, Fegers of McHenry, Darby of Wilmot, Ward, Foster and Armstrong of Richmond, and our 'town Dr. Brem- ken were all here, and Spring Grove i6 not a sickly place, either. Sunday afternoon Dr. Fegers and some of his friends started for this place in his automobile, but when the auto found out 'twas headed for Spring Grove it began to cnt up and didn t want to go any farther. But finally 'twas coaxed to go on and they landed here all O. K. During their short stay here the ma chine was so impressed with the place ths t it deternined not to leave, and what un excitement it did create! It took the combined efforts of the wholt party to persuade it to leave. The las J we heard they bad gotten as far as Sol on and we sincerely hope they arrived at McHenry without further excite ment. * No Pity Shown. Turner, is deco rating his son's barn in a manner that will put others of the same profession in the background. While playing in the barn, Oscar, the 4-year-old son of Chas. Westmond, got his hand in the pulleys of a hay fork and it was bailly lacerated. Nothing but words of praise are heard from people who attended the celebra tion at McHenry the 4th, and the man ner in which it was conducted. Mrs. Geo. Turner is visiting with Mrs. Brown and Mrs. R. B. Gardner On the nineteenth of this month she will pass her 80th birthday, and if it is God's will, it is onr wish that she may pass the centnry line. "Somehow or other the people are bound to go where they want to on the Fourth," says the Richmond corre spondent "It's not pleasant to do oth erwise," say the people. You see, it is this way: I pity the poor awfully and I am rather proud that I do pity them If I should go so far as to give them money, I'd be so vain there'd be no living in the same town with me.--Bos ton Transcript Don't wait until the flies are as "thick as thieves" before giving thehor- ses some protection, Purchase enongh Fly Nets for all animals now, and tyhen the winged pest becomes troublesome, yon are ready.
